Insulation Fault Location Systems (IFLS, EDS)

Insulation fault locators are used to localize insulation faults in unearthed (ungrounded)  power supplies (aka IT systems). An insulation monitoring device with an internal pulse generator or an external pulse generator that generates the measuring pulse for the insulation fault locator is required.

The insulation fault locator uses one or more measuring current transformers to record the test current signals generated by the insulation monitoring device or the external pulse generator and evaluates them accordingly. Insulation fault locators enable the source of the fault to be located within a short period of time and without interruption of operations while the system is permanently online.
