And while searching local databases for keywords like "expat", "foreigner" or "expatriate" you will get mostly offers for secretaries and/or assistants to an Foreign Manager/Expat in return.

Without that keywords, you will found thousands of positions with one qualification criteria: "Thai Nationals only".

Worst then this, are the results while you look up in international (not country specific) job boards. Just try to search for Bangkok, you will surely got a couple of hits (at least if you try the full text search), but most of the returned hits will just give you an advertisement of a global recruitment agency, which has an office in Bangkok, but no job here to offer (at least not in the job board of your home country).

But this terrible situation affects not only jobseekers.

As employer or recruiter, you might miss to address the people you are looking for, caused by the effects mentioned above. Applicants might give up searching in a large db, bothered by thousands of - you have the wrong nationality statements - before approaching your ad.
